EACC: KAKAMEGA CHIEF OFFICERS VANISH

THREE Chief Officers at the Kakamega County Government have gone underground following last week's raid by EACC sleiths.

Education Chief Officer Mrs.Irene Ashioya, Public Works Mr. Joseph Sweta and Economic Planning Laurence Omuhaka took off last week as a team of 23 officers landed in Kakamega. 

The officers including accountants, human resource managers and auditors have pitched up a fully fledged Office at the County Headquarters. 

The score of the officers is to investigate multi million World Bank projects across the county under the public Works docket where millions of donor cash were diverted to personal use. 

Such monies, according to Investigations is part of the loot that was used to buy  several acres of land on which Governor Whycliffe Oparanya has put up his private home in Likuyani.

Out source in kakamega now says the Public Witlrks Chef Officer took off when he realized that the county had been raided.

"Joseph Sweta has been used as a conduit in which donor funds meant for projects was diverted into private accounts fir Governor Oparanya and his relatives." said our source.

Education Chief Officer Irene Ashioya is wanted for questioning over millions of shillings paid to Kakamega first Lady Priscilla Oparanya in ECD material supplies throughout three years ago and sub standard works in ECD centers. 

Other issues inclede complete abuse of the procurement processes in the award of ECD building contracts.

Contractors have also accused the first lady of meddling in the award process and using conmen to swindle them off their money.

An insider confided that the officers were also set to question Madam Priscilla Oparanya on what she knows about ECD supplies and building and her relationship with some of the contracted companies. END.
