THE Indian Steel billionaire Narendra Raval who was bidding to revive Mumias Sugar pulled out and immediately demanded for Ksh 1billion bribe from Kakamega Governor.
The money according to sources was branded "landing fees" where Governor Oparanya was to facilitate entry, settling and sale of the company now in receivership.
Speaking in his Nairobi office while issuing a statement to withdraw Mr Narendra said he had been assured of less public SCRUTNY by the county government president in several meetings.
"I was assured that by giving the money, I will have direct access to Mumias Sugar because leaders sat down and agreed but it's clear that the Governor did not involve other leaders in this" He said.
The Simba Cement boss while releasing his starment said he was shocked that he was being surmoned to senate to explain the details of his investment after being assured of a clean pass.
"I saw senate surmons and when I tried to get to the Governor, he has refused to pick my calls and even answer my mails because I wanted his advice on hoe to go round this" Said Raval.
Investigations show that the deal, exposed by Senators Cleophas Malala and Moses Weta gila on the floor of senate was sealed between Governor Oparanya, an investment official in the government and the Indian investor.
In their demand still pending in the house, the Senators have demanded details of the deal on who was leasing Mumias Sugar that is under Receivership to be made public.
It's strange for an investor of such high Calibre not to know the owners of MSC while dealing with the Governor. Mr Raval should come out and State his interest in the open, meet the shareholders and the receiver and am sure he will be given preference on the deal and he can start business.
ReplyDeleteThat is the way to go
DeleteWe need the company to run so that our economy of a common mwanainchi it comes up..ignore politicians and we as farmers from this region we are suffering..
ReplyDeleteThis the fastest lie from bloggers who don't want MSC to be revived. How can Governor Oparanga demand 1B or even a Million shillings from an investor who is coming in to bail a dead industry? Who can believe such stupid lies? How can the the same man who looks for an investor demand money? If the bailout amount from Devki was to be 5B how could one ask for 20%?
ReplyDeleteToday what the poor farmer is requesting for is anybody who can bail out the sugar farming in Mumias. Politics aside. Rai, must be paying liers, bloggers, brokers heavily to come in with propaganda to stifle any contributions for the resuscitation of MSC. Where are the legislators to revive the Sugar Act? Why is the Sugar industry unregulated? Why are the big names appearing in the corruption of the sugar sector? Why do we bail out coffee, tea, pyrethrum leave alone Kenya Airways and leave out the sugar sector?
