MATUNGU POLLS: RASHID ACHESA AT CROSSROADS.

THE Matungu killings that left over 100 people dead and dozens injured two years ago have come back to haunt Former Minister Rashid Achesa Mouhamed.

Mr. Achesa whose appointment was vacated by President Uhuru Kenyatta after he was mentioned in criminal activities is today confronted by the Matungu ghosts.

Achesa who is fronting shadowy and corrupt contractor Alex Lanya as a contestant in the Matungu polls will defiantly have it rough selling his candidate.

Lanya, an accomplished thief whose contractual companies have defaulted on KRA tax payment and have long not renewed NCA certification, is credited with substandard projects in the Matungu CDF and partly faulty ECD centers in Kakamega.

Sources on the ground have told this blog that Lanya had given the former Minister Ksh 8 million to take him for a meeting with the Deputy President but that did not materialize as intelligence advised DP Ruto to keep off the polls widely expected that the ANC Candidate Peter Oscar Nabulindo will carry the day.

Alex Lanya according, according to those close to him, played a hand in looting of projects funds allocated in Matungu and was used by external sources to frustrate the late MP Hon Omurunga. 

Already, families of those who died in the killings are asking Mr Achesa to come out clean and explain the role he played in the near massacre before telling them to vote for Lanya in the March 4th polls. 

Elders from the Abashithsetse clan from which Mr. Nabulindo and the ex CS come from are also questioning the rationale of Achesa in engaging a fellow clans man in an unnecessary contest.

When he was Minister, Achesa is also accused of having not empowered anybody or groups of people and he spent most of his time in the village abusing fellow leaders in funerals.

He launched a smear Campaign against Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala after he paid individuals to photo shop the Senators picture portraying his as being in an uncompromising position.

By fronting Lanya, Achesa is proving that he is not alive to the fact that the Late MP hailed from ANC party and thru the unwritten rule between party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-k's Moses Wetangula over the involvement.

Already Lanya has failed to capture the support from the ground as most of the youth accuse him of being arrogant and not paying his workers.

Among the companies that Alex has been using to swindle the county and CDF in neighboring constituencies include Lanlex Ltd and Walid Ltd.

The two companies are said to be in cross hairs of the KRA following years of non tax remittance from works worth millions done.

Already a conduit within the tax body in Kskamega in under investigation for falsifying records last week to give Lanya a tax compliant certificate.

It will be interesting to see the former Minister sell as n independent candidate despite the fact that the ruling Jubilee Party has fielded a candidate Mwalimu Werimo in the polls.

Already the ANC candidate Peter Nabulindo who came second being the late MP in the 2017 elections has consolidated a huge support base on the ground and is favored to win big in the coming by election. 

Already accusations are flying left right that the former Sports Minister has resorted to threatening other contestants who he sees as a threat.

Last week while at a football match, Mr. Achesa threatened the ANC candidate for refusing to join the DP's band wagon.
