FORMER MP WAKOLI BACKS HIS SON IN MATUNGU ELECTIONS.

Story By Nick Osundwa in Koyonzo.

A former MP in Bungoma has come out to rally voters in the forth coming Matungu by elections to vote for his son who is in the race.

Speaking this morning when he made a stop over as Matungu Cultural center Honourable Bifwoli Wakoli threw his weight behind his son Benard Wakoli an independent candidate.

"The days when people were regarded as outsiders are long gone, the ekectoral laws are flexible and as long as one is a registered voter they can vie anywhere"! He said.

Honourable Wakoli famous for the saying Wanasiasa ni Mashetani.. Was in company of 12 bukusu elders who he said were in Matungu purposely to Campain and ensure victory for Benard.

"My son has our blessings and that is why we need true Bukusu elders from our shakhokho village to come here and stand by Benard"  said the former Bumula MP.

Benard Wakoli who was among the delegation that visited Former Senators Francis Muthama and Bonny Khalwale in Nairobi refused to step down to support UDA's rogue contractor candidate Mr. Lanya citing Ksh. 20,000 they were given as peanuts.

The former Lagislator said he would once in a while stand by his son in the campaigns adding "If Benard wins, Bungoma and Matungu win as well and that is why I am here".

Following the visit and pronunciations from Mr. Wakoli, Wanga elders immediatly said they will rally voters to reject Wakoli because he was an outsider.

They said having bought land in Matungu did not qualify him to contest because Matungu had its sons in the same polls.

Sources have indicated that DP William Ruto is relactant to release funding for the UDA candidate following wranglers among the Independent candidates and inteligence reports showing that due to his closeness to the former MP as a contractor Mr. Lanya was unpopular on the ground.

We have information that a good number of independent candidates wanted the Ksh 25 Million released to the late MP's Wife Christabel Murunga who appeared to resonate well with voters and was bound to get sympathy votes.

But forces around Bonny Khalwale and Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali intimated that Christabel, if given the money for campaigns would not release kickbacks to those who would have pushed for the release of the money.

It is also whispered that Mr. Benard Wakoli had said he would only support a candidate of their choice if they gave him Ksh 1 million in cash to pay up what he had spent.

So far, ANC's Peter Nabulindo still enjoys a huge support base across all the wards in Matungu and is a favorite to win the seat left vacant after the death of the MP Mr. Justus Murunga.

Early this week, ODM unvailed its candidate Former MP David Were in Mumias West Constituency as inteligence reports warned Governor Oparanya against introducing Hon Were in Matungu haphazardly.

Information shows that following events of the past two weeks where MCAs Libinus Oduor and Boniface Osanga were shut down and heckled after they attempted to campaign for Honourable Were, was a warning shot that Oparanya had avoided direct entry of ODM in Matungu.
