NO VOTES BUT THANKS FOR THE MONEY. TEACHERS TELL HON WERE.

ODM Aspirant David were meeting teachers at a Mumias hotel. For several weeks now, the Aspirant has not been able to hold any meetings in the constituency because of hostility from residents who are against David Were's candidature.

Story By Luke Anami in Kakamega.

MATUNGU teachers have apologized to the ODM Aspirant David Were two days after they were hosted at a Mumias hotel.

Speaking at a quickly convened Press conference, teachers thanked Hon Were for the money but said they had had enough of him for 15 years.

"We want to thank Honourable David Were for hosting us and expressing interest to lead as MP but we want to tell him 15 years were enough" Said Samuel Osundwa a KUPET Aspirant in Matungu sub county.

Osundwa further took issue with conveners of the meeting including the Embattled KNUT Executive Secretary John Wesonga who he described as a turn coat. "Wesonga is looking for survival after his roots at the union were shaken, we are very amazed that he can support Were." he said.

The Kupet Aspirant lashed out at the Aspirant for demeaning teachers and attempting to buy them with Ksh 1,200 each plus a cup of tea and mandazi.

" It is sad that Hon. Were is fronting known thieves like Mr. Opwora who was sacked from a school in Kakamega over illegal levies to reach out to teachers and portray them as cheap, it is great we sat together over the weekend but for our votes no way we have alternatives" He said.

Another contestant in the forthcoming KUPPET polls Tiseline Ambunya said the same conmen who made life difficult for school committees over kickback demands on CDF projects had regrouped and were following the former MP.

"look at those following Honorable Were, the same ones who wanted to micromanage school committees when he was MP have resurrected from their graves because they smell a political lifeline" She said.

During the meeting, teachers went home with 1,200 each as the conveners pocketed Ksh 5,000 each money contributed by ODM sec Genera Edwin Sifuna Ksh 70,000, Kakamega Women Rep Elsie Muhanda Ksh 20,000 and Honorable Were himself has Ksh 700,000 part of which 500,000 was from Kakamega Governor Whycliffe Oparanya.

IN THE MEANTIME

As the ODM aspirant was busy bragging of how cheap teachers were in Matungu, the ANC Aspirant Peter Nabulindo intensified his door to door campaigns in the area by visiting several polling stations and meeting residents in their houses.
ANC's Peter Nabulindo meeting women business people at market places he visited in Matungu Unlike Hon, Were who has confined his campaigns in hotels outside the constituency, Peter has remained on the ground with personal touch with voters.

Its amazing that most of those reached out told the ANC aspirant who is favored to win to maximize the visits and appeal directly to those who hold the votes.
ENDS.
