FORMER CS ACHESA KICKS AND PUNCHES MAN IN HOTEL FIGHT.
Story by Ismael Ndula.
FORMER Sports CS Rashid Achesa yesterday punched a man at a Mumias hotel to the amazement of patrons.
Trouble begun when Achesa walked into the hotel Number Seventy and noticed his former supporter now turned critic Desterio Okumu at a corner.
The former Minister immediately started shouting insults to an amazed Okumu as he walked towards him pointing fingers.
Immediately Okumu stood up, Achesa rained punches on a defenseless Okumu as his body guards watched without intervening.
According to CCTV footage at the hotel Mr. Okumu attempted to take off but he was overpowered and fell down on his face.
Mumias MP Benjamin Washiali who was present at the hotel immediately attempted to intervene and is see holding Mr. Achesa's left hand to restrain him from further hitting Okumu.
The footage shows Achesa forcefully shoving Washiali off as he landed on top of tables and chairs at the hotel.
"You have never grown up, politics must not be by force or violence, this is a very bad picture of you in this team" Hon Washiali is heard shouting as he picked himself up from the floor.
"I am not done with you the fact that we marry sisters does not mean we are relatives, this is just the beginning I must eliminate you" Achesa said as he walked off.
A patron at the hotel and other people present are seen helping Desterio Okumu into his car as the Mr. Achesa drove off from the hotel.
Desterio, who was Achesa's biggest supporter when the later was Minister was treated off injuries on his body and reported the matter to the police saying he will pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
Sources have told this blog that Achesa was annoyed after he was humiliated at a funeral last weekend before the DP William Ruto.
According to insiders, Desterio Okumu, on his Facebook page has been giving weekly analyses of the Matungu Mini polls and rating the UDA candidate Alex Lanya as way below average.
According to analyses, ANC candidate Peter Oscar Nabulindo is the most popular and favorite to win the seat left vacant after the death of the MP for Matungu Honorable Justus Murunga late last year.
These ratings, widely quoted by blogs has not gone down with Achesa who has portrayed himself as the Ruto king pin in Kakamega County.
By this morning, sources indicated that Hon. Washiali, former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale and other people were contemplating quitting the UDA Matungu campaigns following the ugly incident.
"They could quit support for Alex Lanya because of the emotions and erratic behavior of Mr. Achesa, it is indeed sad and backward" said our source.
Mid last month Mr. Lanya had complained that he was being used by some unnamed individuals who were getting money for campaigns from the DP but not remitting the same for his use.
