MATUNGU: ODM's WERE SLIDES TO POSITION 3.

TODAY Marks the end of the campaign period for the Matungu By-election as per the IEBC Gazetted laws.

As candidates made a last minute pitch to appeal to voters, a sampled opinion has seen an upset on the table of candidates on the ballot.

Those interviewed from across five wards of Matungu place ANC's Peter Nabulindo as a favourite to win the seat following his forages across all the polling stations.

According to respondents, Nabulindo enjoys the support because of being in the right party and resonating with a majority of voters of all walks in the Constituency.

"He was in the last elections, he never abandoned us, he stayed with us untill the by Election happened and we have decided to return the seat to ANC and we have the right candidate" Said a male respondent.

According to the sampling, ODM's David Were dropped to position three behind UDA'S Alex Lanya who due to weekend activities rose to position two.

Were's drop is attributed to the visit by ODM leader Raila Odinga who has been castigated by locals as an outsider seen as lording Were over the local community.

Another aspect that has seen the former MP drop is the rallying call for Luhya unity advanced by ANC brigade over the past weeks led by fiery Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala and Lugari MP Ayub Savula.

Were is regarded as an outsider Luo whose 15 years reighn saw balkanisation of the clans in Matungu a thing that has again been perfected by Kskamega Governor Whycliffe Oparanya by holding clan cacoon meetings in hotels in the run up to the polls.

UDA'S Alex Lanya could as well slide back following revelations by the former MP 's Widow that he has disappeared with funeral contribution for the construction of the late' s grave.

Mrs. Christabel Murunga who is contesting the seat as an independent candidate has sensationally claimed that Lanya had also "confused" her son Eugine to turn against her political plans.

"He is using his money to confuse my own son but my late husband's spirit will not rest" She said.

On social media, those supporting David Were have for weeks remained rudderless only shouting Afumee without delving into what the candidate has to offer.

Bloggers for the ANC candidate have remained steadfast, articulating the plans of their candidate and the plans he has for the Constituency.

Unlike those supporting UDA'S LANYA, Nabulindo's online solders have done considerably well sharing every move the ANC makes on the ground in Matungu right from when he was nominated for the seat.

Were's online solders appear to be throwing in the towel following their failure to push Mr. Benard Wakoli an independent candidate and Were's village mate out of the race.

Mr. Wakoli has remained steadfast in his quest to replace the late Murunga, despite attempts by Were to get rid off him using money or propaganda.

Others in the race regarded as donkeys include Athman Wangara, Auma Faida and Lawyer Kasamani.

We at The Kakamega Bully can speak without fear of contradiction that the next MP for Matungu will MOST LIKELY come from.
1.Peter Nabulindo-  ANC
2. Alex Lanya - UDA
3. David Were- ODM.
As we close the campaign Chapter today, from our desk, we wish the three success as 4th March nears. We belive in free and fair elections.
